Breast reconstruction surgery may bring in various complications for obese women than the women who are not obese. A research conducted by Dr. Elisabeth K. Beahm and colleagues from M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston has revealed this fact.
The research concluded that when Body Mass Index (BMI) was over 40, which is considerably higher, then the chances of complications related to wound healing and infection after breast reconstruction surgery were more, while this was not the case with lesser obese women.
I personally believe that obese women should pay heed to get away from obesity before going for breast reconstruction surgery.
