Good news for the obese people, responsible for the $100 billion market! A new medical device is available to reduce obesity. In fact by using it, they feel completely stuffed for a long time. Medtronic Inc. is looking to invent a battery-powered gastric pacemaker. It will cause the stomach to send signals of satiety to the brain. The tiny electrodes implanted in specific areas of the brain are a possible treatment for obesity.
In another laboratory in Minneapolis, rather than inspiring the stomach, Enteromedics tries to restrain nerve function by using electrical currents.
The device called Maestro is inserted beneath the skin of the abdomen. It will be connected with electrical leads placed on the stomach. The current paralyze the stomach to reduce contractions that mix food as part of the digestion process. Then people will feel satiated for longer periods of time.
