If you are dwelling in a thickly populated surrounding that keeps lawns or parks then it is a good sign, at least for the health of your kids because a new study suggests that kids dwelling near parks are less likely to be overweight.

Researchers recommend parks or lawns surrounding the residential areas provide kids with a good opportunity to indulge in outdoor games that finally helps them keeping obesity at bay. Before carving, such opinion researchers did the following things:-

1. They tracked about 7,334 children, ages 3 to 18 and measured their BMI.

2. They looked at the amount of green space and the number of food outlets (fast food restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores) around each kid’s home.

Finally, these researchers concluded that kids living in neighborhoods with fewer green spaces were more likely to be overweight than the kids living in neighborhoods with adequate green spaces or lawns.

Personally, I see this finding as a justification for the distinguished fact, according to which outdoor activities helps kids keeping obesity at bay. Perhaps that is the reason why recently U.S. president George W. Bush said, ‘Let kids play outside to fight obesity.’ Moreover, several studies conducted earlier have also revealed that outdoor activities help kids shedding off their fat.
