With obesity becoming a matter of concern across the world, scientists are up with arms to battle the disease leading to various other related ailments. But, decreasing weight is not an easy task for one. Exercising, pills are rather boring and tedious too, leading many to neglect their need to correct obesity.

May be cuing there lines of concern, and to meet the growing demand for obesity solutions in an interesting way, Italian scientists are developing a new diet pill.

True, a diet pill is no new a concept to be catapulted to the headlines. What is new and interesting about it, is its bizarre look and nature! The diet pill turns into a clear, gelatinous blob – more or less, the size of a tennis ball – which can give dieters a sense of satiety, by helping them shrink waistlines.

Luigi Ambrosio, lead researcher on the project at the National Research Council’s Institute for Composite and Biomedical Materials in Naples said,

The effect is like eating a nice plate of pasta. If you sit down for a meal with a stomach that already feels full, you’ll end up eating less.

Made from a cellulose compound of hydrogel, the unnamed pill is a powdery material when dry, but eventually plumps up by soaking up to 1,000 times its weight, when wet.

Amazingly, a gram in capsule form can quickly balloon to a ball holding nearly a liter of liquid!

So, once in the market, grab those “jelly beans” to let them swell, just to help shrink your waistline.
