If you still justify your obesity as something good for your bones, which increases bone mass, then shun off the wrong idea as well as your weight fast.
Triggering a warning against obesity, a new study suggests just the opposite! By this research, investigators corrected for the mechanical loading effect of the increasing body weight.
According to Reuters, Dr. Hong-Wen Deng from University of Missouri-Kansas City said,
Our study found that increasing body fat mass decreases bone mass, for people of similar weight. Therefore, increasing obesity (fat mass) is not good for bone health.
In the world threatened with obesity related problems, like diabetes and other diseases, this finding is important, as it will no longer provide excuses for people to stay obese.
With this finding, it goes without saying that interventions or treatments aimed at reducing obesity may actually increase bone mass, which can eventually protect against osteoporosis.
The results of the study reaffirm the beneficial effects of appropriate weight-bearing and mechanical loading on a healthy skeletal system as well.
