
The researchers of Garvan Institute, sydney has claimed that P2, a fatty acid binding protein also present in the lung. It makes crucial to control inflammation in asthma and link it to obesity.
Bennett Shum, who led the study on mice, used a technique called gene profiling to discover the genes. They found high levels of aP2 in human lung cells that had been tricked into thinking of undergoing an asthma attack.
Bennett Shum said that the researchers had found that mice that had the gene removed were protected from asthma attacks.
Obesity cause the three times risk of being asthmatic. The more obese, the bigger the risk. The August issue of the Journal of Clinical Investigation has published the report.
