The treatment for prostate cancer may not work well if the patient is obese. A new research has found those obese people, who are undergoing radiotherapy treatment, may suffer the reappearance of cancer.



Dr. Sara Strom of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Centre in the US and her associates confirmed that the body mass index (BMI) might decide that how well the patients respond following standard treatments for prostate cancer. Therefore, the obese prostate cancer patients should get good care after treatment.



When patients and their physicians go uncertain for the need of another therapy, a man’s weight should be factored into that decision. However, the reason behind the contribution of high BMI in post-prostate cancer treatment is still unknown. The medical journal, Cancer has published the report.
