Report stating that the number of U.S. children having obesity surgery has tripled in the recent years brings out a mixed response. On reading this report, three questions strike me.
First, are people becoming more cautious about their health than before?
Second, are people adopting this method just to have slim-trim figure?
Third, are they adopting obesity surgery just as a shortcut to fatless body?
I strongly believe that these three questions are the three pillars on which the future of fight against obesity depends. If people are adopting this method just considering it just as a shortcut to fatless body then I think it is heralding a wrong trend. As we know, health is a journey not a destination and if people start considering obesity surgery as the final solution to obesity then they are committing a big mistake. If people having obesity surgery do not exercise regularly, don’t keep restraints on their eating habits then they are bound to re-nourish obesity; whether knowingly or unknowingly.
However, if increased consciousness about health is the main reason behind this boom means ‘obesity surgery’ then it is definitely a good indication. Still, I believe that only people who are too obese to workout properly should look up ‘obesity surgery’ only as a last resort. Moreover, after undergoing this surgery they should follow a strict health routine so that obesity may not re-intrude their lives.
No doubt, obesity surgery is a good solution to re-enliven one’s personality but we should also not forget that it has been associated with many health risks too:-

It is any day better to exercise than to go under the surgeon’s scalpel. For the very obese, I am sure a lot of walking will help immensely. Even if there is no immediate reduction in weight there will definitely be a feeling of well-being.
Yea Sujatha i agree with your view. because it has already been found that brisk walking daily for about 30 minutes provides you with good workout.
