Scientists have recently found out that weight gain may lead to kidney stones. Though they have not found out the exact reason for obese suffering from this malady, but a survey has found out that men weighing more than 220 pounds had a 44 percent increased risk of developing kidney stones compared with men weighing less than 150 pounds. Older women in the same high-weight category were more likely of having kidney stones, which shows an increased risk of 89 percent, while heavy younger had an added 10 percent risk of the malady. They also found that women with the larger hips had a 71 percent greater risk of kidney stones compared with women with the lowest waist circumferences.
A recent article on lose the weight and lose the stones theorizes that it’s theorized that insulin resistance, which leads to diabetes in the obese people, increases the amount of calcium in the urine, which, in turn, contributes to the formation of crystals that develop into kidney stones. These stones block the narrow passage that carries urine from the kidneys to the bladder, causing terrible pain until they pass on their own or with the help of medication or medical procedures.
