study predicts 75 percent overweight in us by 2015

Many people tend to take overweight and obesity as a strict personal matter. And soon, it may cause as much preventable disease and death as cigarette smoking. How many of them know that there is much many communities can and should do to address these problems?

If people across the U.S. keep gaining weight at the current rate, overweight will be the “norm” in just 7-8 years.

And the consequence?

Many health problems are feared to reverse themselves, which the United States has achieved eradicating in recent decades. The U.S. researchers predicted that there will be 75 percent overweight U.S. adults, with 41 percent of them obese by 2015.

Leading the study, Dr. Youfa Wang said in a statement,

Obesity is a public health crisis. If the rate of obesity and overweight continues at this pace; by 2015, 75 percent of adults and nearly 24 percent of U.S. children and adolescents will be overweight or obese.

The scenario is already alarming with 80 percent of black women aged 40 or over is overweight and 50 percent obese! In 2003 and 2004, 66 percent of U.S. adults were overweight or obese.

So, to prevent the health system in the country from crashing, something needs to be done immediately. Obesity and overweight is becoming a ‘preventable’ cause of death in the United States.

So, its time for you to give up your obesity as a personal matter, and help communities help you solve and address the increasing crisis.
