Teenage girls and young women obsessed with their looks and a sexy figure often practice Diabulimia. Diabulimia is a state when a diabetic patient cuts the insulin intake to lose weight. In dire cases, skipping insulin can lead to death, while in other cases one could fall into a coma or damage kidneys or eyes.
It is estimated that one third of the diabetic women in the U.S. have skipped or reduced their insulin intake. The number is an astounding 450,00 in the Type-1 diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes is a state in which body’s self immune system attacks insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, resulting in little or no insulin production in the body. Diabetes is a state in which the blood sugar level rise enormously leaving the patient to a sugar-less diet for the rest of his life. A diabetic has to depend on insulin. Regular physical exercises help in body metabolism. A diabetic patient is at a greater risk of a heart attack.
